“竹友社 Chikuyusha” is the “Kinko琴古” style Shakuhachi group since 1894. The founder “Kawase Junsuke 1st 川瀬順輔I世” was born in Yamagata 1872. He was impressed by Komuso at the age of 17 and then learned from “Araki Kodo 2nd荒木古童二世” and “Uehara Kyodo 上原虚洞”. “Kawase Junsuke 1st 川瀬順輔I世” published music scores and made Shakuhachi music became popular.
Now a days, “川瀬忠輔Kawase Tadasuke” has been succeeded to the name “Kawase Junsuke 3rd川瀬順輔三世” since 1978 and heads Chikuyusha.
